Free meals for any children ages 0-18 during school closures (Updated 4/5)

Updated April 5, 2020 - Additional sites; Some times slightly different

Bulloch County Schools will deliver bags of free meals to 49 locations on weekdays (Monday – Friday). The program will provide free grab and go breakfast and lunch meals to any child ages 0 to 18. No registration, sign-in, or identification is required, and the children do not have to be enrolled in one of our schools. It is not based on income. Any child is welcome, even children who may be staying here temporarily with family. Children must be present to receive meals. Look for a Bulloch County Schools’ bus at each delivery location to receive meals.

In the interest of public health and social distancing recommendations, the meals are for pick up only. No meals can be eaten at the sites. Families should also observe social distancing practices while waiting and receiving meals.

The meal delivery sites were selected based on input from the district’s school social workers, family engagement specialists, school nutrition personnel, and transportation personnel to serve areas with the most need.  Each meal sack will include food for breakfast and lunch. The funding for the program is made possible through the school district’s School Nutrition Department as part of the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.

USDA guidelines prevent the school district from being able to provide evening meals or meals on weekends. There are multiple community organizations, including Bulloch Volunteer Organizations Mobilized in Disasters (VOAD) who are organizing efforts locally to further meet any food insecurity needs.

Bulloch County Schools and its School Nutrition Program do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, age or gender.  For additional information about this remote feeding program, contact Bulloch County Schools.

Note - *Be sure to confirm your site's time as some may have changed slightly in order to accommodate additional sites or increase delivery times for high-volume sites.

    Leader In Me

Leader in MeBrooklet Elementary is a Leader in Me school. Leader in Me has been implemented effectively and successfully at schools around the world to address the social and emotional learning needs of the whole child. Through the program we teach children to identify and celebrate the leader within themselves through direct teaching, practice, and application of the seven habits. The paradigms of The Leader in Me teach students and teachers lifelong leadership skills they will carry outside the walls of the school to help ensure success in future careers and to build positive relationships with others.

    • Habit 1: Be Proactive (You’re in Charge)
    • Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
    • Habit 3: Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
    • Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)
    • Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood(Listen Before You Talk)
    • Habit 6: Synergize (Together Is Better)
    • Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)
